Hi My Sketchy Friends. … been awhile… But … if you have been following me on Facebook…. I have been … on the go …and keeping busy. When I was in Mexico this winter, I did a lot of teaching watercolor, biking around town on my E-bike, swimming in the ocean, enjoying the tacos and maybe a bit of tequila too! Being back home on Vancouver Island has allowed me to plant some seeds in my garden, and get back to preparing some new classes, making new paintings. And … top of my list is planning our next adventure!
I am planning an artists’ painting tour… in Mexico… yes… I am pretty excited about this . I have been going to Mexico for a number of years and I am thrilled to ask you to join me on this trip! We will create memories and paint lots of them too! What better way to learn to create a travel journal but while your are ON a journey! There are so many ways to record our experiences with pen, paper and watercolor paints. I hope you will consider joining in on this adventure. No matter where you are on your watercolor journey … I think this trip could fill in some gaps, give you some time to focus on art and experiment with creating memorable pages to record this adventure. I have been collecting memories in my sketchbook for many miles and i can say they are one of my more treasured possessions.
We will be traveling with FlipFlop Nomad Tours, a well established Travel company based in Melaque Mexico. This little town is a favorite destination for Mexicans and tourists alike. Not too big, not too small, Lots of small, large and varied rooms available, and great variety of food choices. I would suggest you come a few days before and get heat and food acclimatized and a few days on our return to enjoy the beach and put your new skills to work and record Melaqe sights and sounds.
We will be leaving and returning from Melaque Mexico on our journey of 5 days and 4 nights. Start off in the capital city of Morelia, experience the spectacle of the Monarch butterflies in their migratory roosts high in the trees of the Michoacán mountains, visit the iconic Catrinas, the Pueblo Magico of Patzcuaro , the copper town of Santa Clara, off to shop the art and dance to the music in Tlaquepaque. Check out the details about our trip… please contact me if you plan to join us or want to ask some questions? https://www.mysketchyfriends.com/event-details/on-the-go-urban-sketching-in-mexico-march-3-7-2026
