The three-pass painting technique in watercolor involves layering washes to create depth and vibrancy. In a one-day class, begin with identifying the large shapes, add a light wash as the first pass, establishing the base colors. For the second pass, layer a slightly darker wash to define shapes in the shapes and add dimension. Lastly, add details and darker tones in the final pass, enhancing the focal points. Remember, patience is key as drying time is essential. This technique encourages gradual buildup, resulting in a harmonious, luminous artwork. Experiment, enjoy the process, and observe your watercolor skills flourish within a single day.
Supplies: Bring what you have. You will need to have several pieces of 100% cotton 140lb cold press paper. About 1/8 sheet size.
